The Fortune Teller

Tim was a family friend. My mother got to know Tim and Ken through the furniture store contemporary trends in Victor New York in the 1970s. Ken and Tim were gay. They were Bohemian. I can recall one day they took me and my sisters out for pancakes on a Sunday morning. They had a great sense of humor, and we had a lot of laughs. One day, though, Tim had his crystal ball out and I asked him "what do you see about me ?"and he told me "it would curdle your blood."

Poppet Makers

My mother was very creative. She wasn't always a really nice person, but she was herself. She was comfortable in her skin. My mother was a very intense person, and she influenced me, like it or not. I'm usually pretty nice, though. I took the poppet making to a new level as I will share with my illustrations.

I need to draw and paint more. Today, while planning to make oxtail soup I did this painting of a napkin. My sheets are drying on the clothes line in the sunshine and earlier I did some stick removal from my yard.

1898 fisherman’s hat

this is the fisherman's hat adapted for a little girl. I did it in slightly smaller needles I believe size 7 and the yarn is ultra wool by borracco. there are a few little glitches which aren't too noticeable -mistakes I made -but I still think it came out OK.

The 1898 Hat

I was in a knitting store that featured finished products that one might want to make. A man I am dating picked out a hat that he wanted me to knit for him. He is a buddhist and has little attachment to things and he spends most of the colder months in warmer climates so i doubt if it will be for him. Besides I already knitted him a hat. He says it rides up over his ears, but it has a fold downable edge. Who ever gets this hat will need to have a big head. The original pattern was for a 19 circumference head which is pretty small. I knitted it on larger needles. My son has a 23 inch head so it might fit him. The nice thing about the 1898 hat is that the hat has a double layer around the ears and it had ear flaps. I doublt if I will give it to my son as I have made woolens for him before and the item ends up being thrown in the laundry and ruined.
